Aspinwall, PA is a small town along with Alleghany River and is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

In the late 1880’s, Henry Warner, superintendent of Alleghany County Workhouse, came up with an idea to create a residential community along the Alleghany River. Most of the land was owned by the Ross family. Warner traveled to New York and approached Annie Ross Aspinwall about purchasing land along the river. He purchased 155 acres from her and formed the Aspinwall Land Company in 1890.

Upper-class Pittsburgh residents were drawn to the area where Warner had created sixty lots for sale. Soon, the area had over 400 residents, mostly young couples with children. Aspinwall was incorporated as a borough on December 28, 1982.

In 1910, Pittsburgh Railways established streetcar service that continued until 1960, when the Sharpsburg 62nd Street Bridge was closed.
