New Central Air Conditioning Installation

Installing a new central air conditioning unit provides several important benefits over window AC units and ductless air conditioning units. First, a window AC unit or ductless air conditioner dehumidifies and cools the air in the room where the unit is installed. Central AC, on the other hand, is installed in tandem to your current forced air furnace and makes use of the home or business’ existing ductwork. The central AC’s condenser unit is installed outside of the home and is controlled with the same thermostat that is used to control your furnace. Second, a central air conditioning unit is typically better at dehumidifying the air versus a window unit AC. In a lot of cases you can set the temperature on your thermostat a bit higher and not have to compromise comfort because of the low humidity. Lastly, central air conditioners are less obtrusive. With central AC you needn’t have multiple window units in the home, less exposed wires and overall the central AC is quieter allowing you to enjoy comfortable, temperature controlled living even on the hottest days.

Existing Central AC Repairs

If you should find that your existing central air conditioner is not working or if it is not cooling the air, doesn’t turn on, or may be leaking refrigerant. It’s not advisable to attempt an air conditioner repair yourself. A central air conditioner is a complex piece of equipment that has chemicals, moving parts and is wired to your home’s electric utility. A “do it yourself” or DIY air conditioner repair could wind up causing more problems. You can, however, do a visual inspection of your AC unit to see if there are any: frozen pipes leading to or from your air conditioner, check your furnace filter to see if it needs to be replaced, and check your outside AC condenser unit to see if the fan(s) are working (while the air conditioner is turned on). Note anything that may seem broken and then call our office. We will be happy to schedule a licensed HVAC technician to review your central air conditioning unit and any of the internal components which may be causing a problem.
